Ben and I spent the good part of a year agonising over chucking in our stable, well-paid jobs to go into the unknown and set up our first business together. At least once a day I would moan to Ben that I “just wish I knew what the right decision is”. I was 30 years old and hadn’t had to make too many big, critical decisions up to that stage. And it was vital to me that I didn’t take the wrong path. I was obsessed with there being one right decision and one wrong, like on those old TV game shows where you have a stack of money behind one door and a banana behind the other. For me it was black or white, right or wrong, succeed or fail. But which was which?
